Kimberly A. Jackson graduated with a B.S. from Arizona State University in 1980 summa cum laude. She went on to the University of Montana Law School and graduated with a J.D. with highest honors in 1983. She attended the University of Montana Graduate Business School from 1983 to 1984 and the Georgetown University Law Center from 1989 to 1990. She served a fellowship and was also part of the faculty and a staff attorney through the Women's Law and Public Fellowship Program.

Ms. Jackson is an active member of the Hawaii State Bar, United States District Court for the District of Hawaii and the United States Supreme Court.
She is an inactive bar member of the State and Federal courts for the States of Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Kimberly A. Jackson enjoys tap dancing and is a children's book author. She has written: Humu, The Little Fish Who Wished Away His Colors (Island Heritage 2000); Humu’s Search for a Rainbow (Island Heritage 2006); Humu’s Colorful Ocean (Island Heritage 2008); The Volcano Adventures of Keikilani (Mouse Publishing 2009); and Humu Coloring and Activity Book (Island Heritage 2013).
